I am a 2nd-year Ph.D. student in the UrbComp program at Virginia Tech specializing in integer nonlinear programming. My current projects are concentrated on school redistricting and political gerrymandering. My coadvisors are Dr. Layne Watson (Computer Science / Math) and Dr. David Bieri (Urban Affairs and Planning).
I am also a Phase 2 SMART Scholar working on cybersecurity and software for the Department of the Navy.

The NRT Grant is a 2 year grant for research in the pursuit the Urban Computing certificate as a Computer Science Ph.D. student.
DoD SMART Scholarship
May 2017 – December 2019
I was awarded the SMART Scholarship starting in Fall 2017 to pay for my undergraduate tuition. The program is a scholarship-for-service program that converts scholars into DoD government employees after graduation.
Fall 2021 – Present: Treasurer
I serve as treasurer in my department, where I handle travel funding requests, help organize social events, and other council functions. I also help with the website.
Fall 2019 – Present: Member
Spring 2021 – Present
spAAce was shut down in its infancy at the start of the pandemic, and I've been working to bring it back. We're a community of people identifying on the asexual and aromantic spectrums.
Spring 2019 – Present
We held weekly meetings to share and learn topics related to Linux. I gave some presentations of my own.
Fall 2018 – Spring 2019: Vice President
I went to Math Club through most of my undergrad and joined the officers in the 2018–2019 year. The pandemic interrupted us shortly after that.
Fall 2016 – Spring 2019: President
I founded Backgammon Club in Sept. 2016, and stayed Vice President from Sept. 2016 – Sept. 2018. I took over as President in Sept. 2018. I organized our club meetings, recruited for the club, and did most re-registrations.
Fall 2015 – Fall 2018: Historian
I was elected Historian in April 2016. Before then, I was a team member contributing to building/programming robots. After then, I twice redesigned our club's website, settling on Jekyll hosted from GitHub Pages. I was a team lead Sept. 2016 – Dec. 2016 to cover someone spontaneously leaving the organization. I also participated in community service and fundraising with TEK Robotics; I went to the Big Event with them twice.
I love language and linguistics. I studied German for 5 years in middle and high school. I then started learning Japanese and Mandarin Chinese in my undergrad. I've spent the most time learning Japanese (mostly through music) and these days I'm working to improve my Chinese and German again.
I'm a hobbyist of Vocaloid and its sibling software. That is, I enjoy making (synthetic) vocal covers. I've been in the Vocaloid community since 2013 as a listener, as a translator, and more recently as a cover artist. Links pending. I've also been learning how to play guitar.
